Designing a letter

My group includes Vinny, John, and I. We are presenting on how to write a letter. We broke the presentation into three parts. Vinny will be presenting the three major types of letters, I will be presenting the elements of a letter and John will be doing what to avoid in a letter and the conclusion. Overall, the progress of this project is going well. We utilized the class time provided wisely. I finished my portion of the presentation. John is responsible for editing the completed powerpoint. With the class time provided tomorrow, we will be finished with this project by the end of class, and ready to present when we get back from spring break.

Instructions

For this assignment, I will be using a recipe of how to make chocolate chip cookies. I plan on writting instructions, which will include step by step directions of how to make the cookies, ingredients, and materials needed for the cookies. I will not be including pictures, as I do not think they will be necessary for these instructions.

Designing Documents and Web Sites

This chapter of the book was interesting. It explained the basics of the design of websites and documents. I liked that the chapter included photos and examples of the different ways to design and set up a document or website, as it made it more understanding and easy to comprehend. I liked reading and learning about the white space and columns involved with a document. I agree with what the book suggests to utilize the white space and columns to make the document visually appealing and easier to read. I would have never thought to have incorporate columns into a document without reading this chapter. Regarding the web site designs, the informational tips and guidelines to help the designer make their site easy to navigate was helpful. This is a very important feature of a website. For example, I do not think the new BSU website is very user friendly. It seems as though each time I use the search box on the website, I get an error message or cannot navigate to what I am trying to find. Overall, the chapter explained a lot of details of how to improve and make a document or website user friendly with design.

I have selected a brochure from an organization I belong to called AAAE. This is a registration brochure for an event that is taking place hosted by AAAE. The brochure includes information of where and when the event takes place. It also comes with a  form that is available for the receiver to fill out and mail back in to sign up for the event. The brochure includes a nice picture for a cover and text, and forms for the rest.
